Job Description
We are looking to create a small pool of graphic designers for summer work on poetry workshops that take place in a pop-up greenhouse in various locations.
The graphic designer/zine maker’s role is to creatively digitise and input short poems co-written by poets and members of the public into appropriate software. This process happens live during the workshop, and participants may choose to sit beside you as you input their poetry. You will facilitate their suggestions and co-create the digital input of the poem.
At the end of the workshop, you will have designed and created a digital zine which will be available for the public to view. At a later date, these zines will be printed and bound by the team,
Using your artistic style you should take inspiration from the location and the poetry that is created to produce authentic and high-quality zines.
The fee will be £250 for the day. Workshops will be two hours in length with a thirty-minute set-up period on either side and travel time.
Work begins w/c the 2nd of June and good availability is needed. There will also be future work in the summer and across 2026 funding tbc. Work is for approximately 1-4 workshops.
You will operate within a small team of like-minded artists and be able to flex your style of facilitation and design to suit the changing environments you will work within.
It’s important that you have experience working in public-facing and community arts environments, that you can adapt to different working conditions and that you can work efficiently.
