Job Summary
Job Description
The intern will serve as the first point of contact for visitors at one of the gallery’s front desks and will provide administrative, organisational, and project-based support to the wider team. Previous gallery experience is not essential, and all relevant training will be provided. This internship is aimed at recent graduates and early-career individuals who are committed to forging a career in Contemporary Visual Art, but who have no or little experience working in this field directly. At Thomas Dane Gallery, we want to invest in people who are eager to develop their skills and talents, working alongside the experienced staff in our collaborative and agile team, all of whom are passionate about contemporary visual arts.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Front Desk
- Daily preparation of the gallery space including turning on lights, turning on exhibitions (where necessary), and restocking press releases
- Answering the door buzzer, greeting visitors, and providing information as required
- Answering the telephone and transferring calls to other members of staff
- Collecting visitor data and compiling end of show reports
- Running errands as requested
Administration
- Helping with printing, posting, mailouts, and couriers
- Assisting with database management (Artlogic)
- Supporting with scanning and filing
- Supporting with research projects across departments (e.g. Archives, Publications, Sales, Artist Liaisons)
The intern will be required to work flexibly and undertake any other ad hoc duties as deemed appropriate for the role.
The internship will be paid at the London Living Wage (£13.85 per hour) and is available on a full or part-time basis (4 or 5 days per week, Monday-Friday). Our office hours are 10am-6pm.
