Freelance Theatre Director

The Vacancy

We are looking for a freelance Theatre Director to direct one project for Marlborough College.

Casting for the project will be on Sunday 7th December 2025

Rehearsals begin in January 2026 and run at the following times:

Lent Term: (begins 7th January 2026 – 27th March 2026)

• Tuesday Afternoon/early evening
• Thursday Afternoon/early evening
• (not during half term)

Summer Term: (begins 21st April 2026)

• Tuesday Afternoon/early evening
• Thursday Afternoon/early evening
• Sunday Afternoon/early evening

The performances of the project would be the 3rd week in May 2026

This opportunity would suit either an experienced freelance director or could suit an early career theatre director. The choice of project is negotiable with the Head of Drama but would need to be suitable for 14-15 year olds.

This is a freelance position; therefore, you must be able to provide proof of self-employed status.

In this role we expect the hours of work to be 8 hours a week for 12 weeks.

Freelance rate for the entire project inclusive of all hours worked throughout the Lent and Summer term is £3,900 (invoiceable to Marlborough College).
