Job Summary

We are looking for someone to join our team at people make it work and play a key role in leading our small business to develop robust business practices and enable our distinctive sector support offer to thrive.

Job Description

People make it work has worked at the forefront of sector support in the cultural sector for over 20 years, supporting individuals and organisations to change and develop, through innovative programmes, bespoke client projects, coaching and facilitation.

As Finance and Operations Manager, you would be leading on the financial management of the business, and helping us to revolutionise our operating systems as a key function of our work to ensure this much needed sector support continues to be widely available. We are keen to work with you to develop our operations in a way that reflects the creative, innovative nature of our work.

You would carry out a piece of initial work over six months to include an in depth financial analysis of the business, establishing robust financial processes and working strategically with the Directors to plan for a sustainable and resilient future.

This role would be for 8 days a month for the first six months and then 4 days a month moving forward.

As a small team, we work collaboratively and dynamically and we are looking for someone to join us on the next chapter of our development as an organisation.

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in financial analysis, management and forecasting
  • Demonstrable experience of working with small businesses
  • Experience in establishing organisational systems and project management tools
  • Excellent understanding of the arts and cultural sector in the UK
  • Strong organisational and multitasking skills with attention to detail
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks (or similar software), Microsoft Office and Google Drive
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team
  • Ability to work independently, under your own initiative to get tasks completed in good time and to a high standard
  • You will be comfortable working in a small, fast paced organisation
