Job Description

UCL is a radically different university. Founded in 1826 in the heart of London, we were the first in England to welcome students of any religion and the first to welcome women to university education. Today, with over 50,000 students and 18,000 staff, UCL is ranked among the world’s leading universities and is second in the UK for research power and first in London (REF 2021).

Public Art and Cultural & Community Engagement sit within the Vice-Provost’s Office for Strategy and play a central role in shaping UCL East in Stratford. This growing campus brings together research, creativity and community in an open, outward-facing environment.

The team delivers exhibitions, public art commissions and cultural programmes, working across disciplines to support creative practice, encourage dialogue, and create an inclusive and welcoming space for both UCL and the wider public.

Job Requirements

You will have experience delivering exhibitions and public programmes from development through to installation, with a strong grasp of both creative and practical aspects. You can manage multiple projects, prioritise effectively and work in a fast-paced environment.

You build strong relationships with artists, academics and external partners, and communicate complex ideas clearly for a range of audiences. With excellent attention to detail, you are committed to high-quality, inclusive and accessible experiences, and confident managing logistics, scheduling and health and safety.

Proactive and solutions-focused, you work well independently and collaboratively. You bring a genuine interest in public engagement, interdisciplinary working and the role of culture within a university setting.

Job Responsibilities

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Public Art and Cultural & Community Engagement team as an Exhibitions Producer, leading exhibitions across UCL East.

You will manage exhibitions from concept through to installation and de-installation, working with artists, academics, students and community partners to deliver engaging, accessible programmes. The role combines curatorial thinking with hands-on production, ensuring delivery to a high standard, on time and within budget.

Working across flexible public-facing spaces, you will coordinate schedules, logistics and production, ensuring a high-quality visitor experience. You will support interpretation and accessibility, helping communicate complex ideas clearly, and contribute to programme planning, public engagement and continuous improvement.
