Job Summary

The Duty Manager oversees the safe and smooth operation of our building across daytime, evening and weekend activity. This front-facing role ensures the Centre is welcoming, safe and well managed for students, artists, visitors, hires and staff working a minimum of 14 hours per week.

Job Description

We are looking for a Duty Manager to join our Operations team on a scheduled-hours basis. This role is responsible for the day-to-day management of the building during daytime, evening and weekend activity. You will support the visitor experience, act as first responder to facilities issues, and be the senior responsible person out of hours.

During the day, the focus is on front of house support, assisting with reception, providing a friendly welcome, and ensuring smooth operations. During evenings and weekends, the Duty Manager takes responsibility for the full site, including opening/closing, implementing health & safety procedures, supporting events, and managing building issues.

The role includes acting as the lead First Aider and Fire Warden while on shift, working closely with other departments including hires, front of house, and facilities. You’ll also liaise with users and tenants of the building and ensure studio spaces and shared areas are safe, clean, and operational.

This role is scheduled hours, with different responsibilities during the daytime and evening/weekend times. During the day responsibilities shift towards front of house support, during the evenings/weekends, responsibilities shift towards operational management and acting as the responsible person for the organisation, it is essential you are a self-motivated team player.

Job Requirements

  • Experience in facilities or building operations, ideally in a public or customer-facing venue
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation in a multi-use space
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure
  • Comfortable with IT systems (email, Microsoft Office, etc.)
  • Willingness to act as First Aider and Fire Warden (training provided)
  • Practical, responsible, and confident taking initiative
  • Interest in the arts or education is desirable.
