Job Summary
Job Description
We have a strong menu of learning programmes which smartly target the formal UK curriculum. We wish to substantially increase their usage. You will drive that increase, drawing on your understanding of national education policy, your professional credibility and your influencing skills. You will also be able to lead and motivate a highly talented team of professional Educators, maintaining the strong culture of continuous learning, improvement and dynamism which your predecessor has instilled. You will inherit specialists from primary and secondary school education as well as an expert in community groups and hate prevention. You will always be on the lookout for effective new pedagogic methods, and lead robust evaluations of our delivery and impact. At the same time, you will work closely with the Curatorial and senior management team of the Museum to ensure that our learning programmes make the most of our distinctive collections and exhibitions. You will ensure the Museum continues its ascent as a premium provider of high-quality Holocaust Education. You will keep us agile, so our programmes stay relevant.
Job Requirements
1. Dynamism.
2. Demonstrable understanding of the national educational landscape: how schools work but also how our offer fits into the National Curriculum, Exam Board policies, Ofsted.
3. Demonstrable experience of improving the teaching of others.
4. Demonstrable experience of writing a learning experience which has been delivered by others.
5. Demonstrable knowledge of the school purchasing process, and an ability to develop the right packages to sell to the right schools. Identifying the market for On-site v Outreach v Online is key.
6. Experience of operating, networking and influencing at a senior level within educational institutions.
7. Demonstrable empathy with the issues of Holocaust memory (including its distortion), education and how to relate it to contemporary issues.
8. Financial management skills: budget setting & monitoring.
9. A passion for museum learning. We wish to offer immersive, dialogic learning using the gamut of our creative assets.
