English Chamber Orchestra
Job Summary
Job Description
The English Chamber Orchestra is seeking a Development Manager to help grow fundraising, sponsorship, donor, trust, foundation and partnership income.
ECO is entering an important stage of growth, with renewed focus on sustainability, artistic impact and making music that matters. Its UNESCO-awarded Close Encounters programme is central to community engagement and supporting future musicians and audiences.
This is a hands-on role for someone commercially minded, relationship-driven and motivated to help build a stronger development function within a prestigious cultural organisation. The role offers exposure to senior decision-makers, patrons, sponsors, cultural partners and influential stakeholders.
The position is primarily remote, with meetings and events in London as required. ECO is also exploring a London office location for future hybrid working. UK and international travel connected to approved ECO meetings, events or stakeholder activity will be covered where required.
The role supports ECO’s goal to raise £500,000+ per year and includes performance-related bonuses/rewards. For the right candidate, there is strong progression potential to Head of Development / Development Director within 6-12 months, based on results.
Job Requirements
Proven results in fundraising, development, sponsorship, partnerships, sales, business development or income generation.
Experience securing high-value support from donors, sponsors, partners or strategic supporters.
Strong relationship-building skills and confidence engaging senior stakeholders, companies, donors, patrons and cultural partners.
Excellent communication skills and ability to present a compelling case for support.
Commercial awareness, professionalism, discretion, resilience and ability to work independently.
Music, orchestral, classical music, arts, cultural or charity-sector experience is highly desirable, but measurable results are the priority.
