Job Summary

Offset Projects is looking for a designer to help us begin to develop a distinctive visual language for how artist-led work is presented and sold through Offset.

Job Description

Offset Projects is looking for a designer to help us begin to develop a distinctive visual language for how artist-led work is presented and sold through Offset. At the heart of this work is our commitment to creating opportunities for young artists to have their work seen, valued and purchased, while exploring ethical and sustainable ways to support artists and reinvest income into our wider work with young people. As a not-for-profit organisation, any trading activity we develop is rooted in our social purpose and our commitment to creating meaningful opportunities for young creatives.

This is a focused commission with a budget of £4,000. We are therefore not looking for a full brand identity, product catalogue or extensive set of templates. We are looking for a designer to establish the creative foundations of a visual language and demonstrate its potential through a small number of carefully considered applications. The work should be distinctive and creatively ambitious, while remaining realistic in scope.

Young creatives aged 16-25 will contribute meaningfully to the development of the work, working with the designer to test ideas, share references and challenge decisions.

We’re interested in designers who are curious, collaborative and excited by the relationship between contemporary art, design, youth culture, storytelling and commercial activity.

We welcome applications from independent designers, small studios and emerging practitioners with relevant experience.

Job Requirements

1. Collaborative sessions with young people
Young people aged 16-25 should contribute meaningfully to the development of the work through a small number of facilitated sessions , with support from Offset Projects as required.

2. Visual language
The core creative output will be a distinctive visual language usable in Offset’s physical space, and for presenting and selling artist-led work. This should build on the existing Offset identity
rather than replace it. We are interested in a strong visual idea rather than a comprehensive set of brand guidelines.

3. Applications & handover
The priority is to create real, usable visual outputs for the opening of our new physical space in January 2027, alongside a small number of applications showing how the approach could
extend into trading. These could include:
Physical space
One key window vinyl or external graphic
One wall, signage or display application
Product / retail
A small number of product applications
