Job Description
Purpose of role:
To act as Deputy Stage Manager for our production of Magic Mike Live. The DSM will join the Stage Management team working closely with creative, production and the wider Crossroads Live team.
Reports to: Company Stage Manager
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee performances and look after every facet of the show to ensure its smooth and safe delivery
- Sit at the DSM desk during the show, following the script and calling every technical cue
- Ensure that all other crew members perform the correct technical cues at the correct time
- Ensure that effects only happen if it is safe to do so
- Conduct upkeep of the book should any changes be required
- Have an awareness of understudy and swing performances ahead of each show and making necessary adjustments, if any
- Teaching the book to any book cover
- Collate show notes and reports after each performance alongside the Company Manager
- Feeding back information through show reports to show departments and the general management and producing teams
- Together with relevant members of the producing team, ensure safe, clean and efficient working environment for the company and stage teams
- Liaising with other departments to ensure good communication and smooth operation of the whole production
- To act as Stage Manager on agreed performances to cover other roles within the department for holiday and sickness cover, as required
- Any other duties as reasonably required
SHOW SCHEDULE: 10 performances Wednesday-Sunday (Monday and Tuesday typically rest days)
Job Requirements
Essential:
- Considerable experience in stage management and DSM roles
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to work methodically
- A problem solver with a can-do, positive attitude with the ability to communicate in a professional and friendly manner
- Strong organisational and time management skills with ability to prioritise under pressure
Desirable:
- Experience of working on a commercial theatrical production
- An interest in running complex systems and implementing excellence amongst professional theatre teams
