Job Summary

Rodeo Productions are looking for a Deputy Head of Wardrobe to work on the UK tour of Operation Mincemeat. Still enjoying a phenomenal run in London’s West End, Operation Mincemeat is now also on its first national tour and has an exciting opening as within the Wardrobe team.

Job Description

The Deputy Head of Wardrobe will work closely with the Head of Wardrobe, Assistant Wardrobe, and dressers, in establishing and executing the needs of the production.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Support the Head of Wardrobe to help with all aspects of the planning, supervision, and maintenance of all costumes in the show for performances;
  • Deputise for the Head of Wardrobe;
  • Attend press/marketing photography and press/marketing performances as required, ensuring the original design specification and look of the production is maintained;
  • Support the Head of Wardrobe to manage the wardrobe department (including casual staff and deps), line management, recording of hours and training;
  • Acquiring a familiarity with all plots/tracks within your department so that you update/supervise tracks, provide holiday or absence cover as required, and ensure that your staff are trained to cover other plots/tracks as required;
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure the smooth running of the show;
  • To ensure all costumes are cleaned, well maintained and ready for each performance;
  • To support the Head of Wardrobe in keeping petty cash documentation up to date;
  • To keep the Costume bible up to date including photo references for each cast change;
  • To liaise with the Company Manager regarding any cast changes and prepare the Costume changes accordingly;
  • Attend rehearsal, technical, dress and costume understudy rehearsals as required;
  • Deal with emergency repairs to costumes;
  • Recognise where maintenance work needs to be carried out on a costume outside of the theatre and bring this to the attention of the Head of Wardrobe;
  • Ensure that work materials and all costumes are kept in a tidy and secured manner;
  • Ensure that security, safety and good housekeeping procedures for the department are properly carried out;
  • Comply with the Manager’s Health and Safety and other policies at all times;
  • Perform all other job-related duties as requested.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience of touring and opening large-scale theatre shows, ideally musicals.

Essential experience includes:

  • Previous experience as Deputy Head of Wardrobe on opening and touring a large-scale production;
  • Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment;
  • Ability to supervise dressing cues (from simple to extensive plots);
  • Experience and good knowledge in the maintenance of varied garments and textiles;
  • Excellent hand and machine sewing skills;

Start date: Rehearsals begin w/c 12th January 2026 (however, we may require the successful candidate to be available prior to this for prep).

End date: Saturday 28th November 2026
