Customer Service Assistant – (Job ref: PEC005)

Fixed Term Contract until 31st December 2026

Salary: £24,521 gross per annum
Hours: 37 hours per week (working pattern below)
Location: PEC – Newton Abbot Library
Closing date: 9am on Thursday 9th April 2026
Interview date: Thursday 16th April 2026 at PEC – Newton Abbot Library

Working Pattern

Week 1:
Monday: 8:45am – 5:00pm (7.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Tuesday: 8:45am – 5:00pm (7.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Wednesday: 8:30am – 6:00pm (8.5 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Thursday: 8:45am – 5:00pm (7.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Friday: 8:45am – 5:00pm (7.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break

Total: 37.5 hours

Week 2:
Monday: 8:45am – 5:00pm (7.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Tuesday: 8:45am – 5:00pm (7.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Wednesday: 8:30am – 6:00pm (8.5 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Thursday: 8:45am – 5:00pm (7.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break
Saturday: 8:45am – 4:00pm (6.25 hours) with a 1 hour unpaid break

Total: 36.5 hours

Are you passionate about helping people and creating welcoming community spaces? We’re looking for a friendly and proactive Customer Service Assistant to join our library team.

In this varied role, you’ll be the first point of contact for visitors, delivering excellent customer service and ensuring everyone has a positive experience. You’ll confidently assist customers with enquiries, help them access library resources, and provide support with everyday PC and digital queries.

You’ll also play a key part in planning and delivering engaging events and activities for all ages-from workshops and reading groups to community sessions-helping bring the library to life.
