Job Summary

Calling creative industry professionals & aspiring creatives! Become a mentor or mentee with the Creative Opps Mentorship Programme 2026.

Job Description

The Creative Opps Mentorship Programme supports young people to navigate and build sustainable careers in the creative industries, connecting them with experienced professionals who offer guidance, insight, and long-term support.

Access to creative careers is still shaped by privilege and informal networks. While 76% of people value mentoring, only 37% have access to it (Forbes). For those from lower socio-economic backgrounds, barriers such as unpaid labour and limited support make this gap even wider.

Creative Opps exists to challenge this. We believe creative careers are rarely linear and that real progress comes from consistent, trusted relationships, not one-off advice. This programme offers structured, sustained support that meets young people where they are.

The Mentorship Programme runs for six months, with mentors and mentees meeting for 1-2 hours per month. Each pairing develops a personalised development plan shaped by the mentee’s goals and circumstances. Sessions may focus on career planning, navigating the industry, building confidence, understanding routes into work, or developing practical skills. Where possible, mentors will also help facilitate at least one tangible opportunity, such as shadowing, a networking introduction, a taster day, or signposting to an internship or placement.

Mentors are creative professionals or academics committed to supporting the next generation and addressing under-representation in the sector. The programme is open to mentors based in England and Wales, with reasonable expenses covered to ensure accessibility.

Mentees benefit from tailored guidance, encouragement, and clearer pathways forward. Past participants report increased confidence, stronger communication skills, and greater clarity around employers, organisations, and opportunities.

Alongside one-to-one mentoring, mentors are invited to an in-person mixer event to connect, share learning, and reflect on the collective impact of the scheme.
