Essential Qualifications

Maths and English GCSE Grade 4/C or equivalent (Level 2)

Qualification in teaching/education or relevant experience

Job Requirements

Responsibilities

To be the first point of contact regarding arranging cover for lessons when teachers are absent

To be available at 8am to ensure reported absences are covered

Allocate cover before 9am, with the following order of priority: Cover Supervisor, Tutor Cover Timetable, Student Services Team, SEN Team

Communicate the cover arrangements with the wider team and SMT as needed

Cover lessons in the absence of the timetabled teacher, supervising the delivery the cover work set by the lead tutor

Oversee the collection of resources needed in order to effectively deliver the covered lessons/sessions

Work with teachers to clarify teaching objectives in lessons, understand the sequence of teaching and learning the subject, and communicate such information to students.

Seek guidance from Curriculum Managers and SENco as appropriate on the choice of learning methods to meet the needs of their subject and of different students.

Job Responsibilities

Ensure opportunities are taken to develop students’ literacy, numeracy and ICT skills, working in collaboration with Vocational and English & Maths departments

Act consistently within departmental and school wide rewards and sanctions policies.

Ensure the effective and efficient management and organisation of learning during cover lessons.

Provide cover in support staff areas of the college where required, including

Reception, Student Services, and the SEN team.

Foster a climate of positive attitude towards learning.

Salary and Days of Work

28 hours across 4 days a week for 38 weeks per year (36 weeks term-time and 2 weeks in late Aug)

Pro rata of 25 days of annual leave plus UK bank holidays

This is a permanent term-time position

Start date 18 Aug

Pro rata of annual salary FTE £28,000-£42,000 (actual salary £18,452-£27,678)
