Dewlap Studio Ltd

Job Summary

Job Description

We’re a small team looking to expand our network of freelancers. Dewlap Studio is a very niche small business creating handmade masks and associated gear in-house at a communal studio space within walking distance of Abbey Wood station, London. The freelance role will primarily revolve around cutting material, using a heat press to add designs to neoprene fabric, using a manual machine to cut shapes out of the neoprene, and using hand press tools to assemble products. There will also be some picking and packing work, and if you have your own vehicle (not a necessity), parcel drop-offs at a local depot, along with working within the team to maintain the workshop space.
Full training will be provided.

Our ideal candidate;
– Must have a good eye for detail!
– Has had some past experience in a workshop or studio environment
– Is a great team player and takes direction well, and is also happy working independently
– Has a decent amount of upper body strength to use our manual workshop equipment along with moving rolls of fabric and stock

Other helpful skills could include;
– Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop
– Good computer literacy awareness of online subcultures, along with the LGBTQIA+ community
– Experience in web-based administrative tasks e.g. creative online shipping labels, use of PayPal

This role will start with a trial period of 40 hours part-time at £14.50/hour. Following a successful trial period, the hourly wage is £16.50/hour, which is paid out once a month on the 28th following an invoice. This is a freelance role, not employment. You will be responsible for managing your own tax return and payments.

Our typical office hours are 10.30am-6.30pm but once training has been completed we are happy to be flexible with working hours for the right candidate. Successful candidates will be asked to sign a NDA. This is an ongoing/permanent role that can be part time or full time for the right individual.
