Job Description
Reporting to the Executive Director of Thaddaeus Ropac’s London Gallery and the Global Senior Director, Communication & Content. Managed by the Editorial and Research Manager for London.
Based in Thaddaeus Ropac’s London gallery, the responsibilities of this role span contributing written content and proofreading texts relating to the London exhibition programme, and for the needs of the London gallery’s sales directors and artist liaisons. Also supporting for exhibitions, research and external projects related to our international galleries, including art fairs. Working closely with the London-based Editorial and Research Manager as well as content team colleagues and artist liaisons across our international galleries.
Job Requirements
Excellent writing and editing skills
Meticulous attention to detail
Academic art historical background, ideally with a focus on contemporary art
Ideally experience in a commercial contemporary art gallery or a contemporary art institution (internship or first job experience)
Excellent proofreading skills
Excellent art historical research skills
Ability to work on different types of texts for different purposes/audiences (press releases, content sheets, online exhibitions etc.)
Ability to work under time constraints, and work independently as well as part of a team
Experience:
University graduate ideally with previous internship or a first job experience in an art gallery or institution.
Job Responsibilities
Research and cataloguing (provenance, exhibitions, literature) for new works of art, including entering the information into the gallery database.
Research and written content, or adapting existing content, for exhibitions and art fairs (on and offline) across all the galleries in liaison with the relevant Sales Director or Artist Liaison (including simple formatting content sheets for new stock and art fairs).
Writing content sheets on artworks that enter the gallery’s inventory, in liaison with senior editorial/content team members and the artist liaison.
Written content for newsletters, gallery website and social media in liaison with the communications team.
Editorial updates to website CMS such as updating artist CVs and artists’ external exhibitions.
Proofreading texts/mailings/translations across all gallery locations.
