Job Summary

Large choir in Bristol seeking a freelance / contracted staging manager for their concerts.

Job Description

Organisation: City of Bristol Choir
Location: Bristol, UK

Contract: Freelance / Contractor
(Approximately 4-5 concerts per year. Concert dates will be booked in with the Choir Staging Manager at least 4 months in advance each time).

Rate: £300 per concert
(roughly £20 per hour for 15 hours of work per concert)

Role Overview:
City of Bristol Choir (CBC) is seeking a dedicated and organised Choir Staging Manager to oversee the staging and seating arrangements for all concerts throughout the year. This role is crucial in ensuring smooth logistics, proper setup, and a well-organised performance space for the choir at a variety of concert venues across the city. This role also encompasses overseeing the staging provision for external hires of our staging to other choirs and music groups.

Job Requirements

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong organisational and planning skills.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach with an ability to undertake physical tasks.
  • Practical knowledge of staging, seating arrangements, and concert logistics.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate volunteers effectively.

Desirable Skills & Experience:

  • Experience in event or stage management, particularly in a music or performance setting.
  • Familiarity with choral concert setups.
  • Ability to drive a van, or ideally own your own van (large, long wheel base), for transportation. If your own van is used, mileage reimbursement will be applicable at 0.45p per mile.
