Suffolk Craft Society
Job Summary
Job Description
Suffolk Craft Society is a not for profit, juried membership organisation with more than 80 exhibiting members. Established in 1970 to support and promote the work of contemporary designer craftspeople in Suffolk, the aim remains to highlight the value and importance of craft and to support individual craftspeople in the creation and sale of their work. In recent years we have exhibited locally and nationally, and developed partnerships with key arts and contemporary craft organisations including Britten Pears Arts, the National Trust, Pickett London/London Craft Week and the Society of Designer Craftsmen.
Management of the Society is undertaken by an executive committee which meets 10 to 12 times a year (online) with the AGM held in person in the Autumn in an appropriate Suffolk venue.
This is a voluntary part-time position (2 – 3 days per month) with an initial term of three years.
We are looking for a collaborative and generous leader who shares our belief in the value and importance of crafts today, and who is excited by the opportunity to play a key role in shaping our future. You will bring leadership and people skills; experience of partnership building; knowledge of regional and national networks; and a commitment to supporting and promoting the Society and its makers.
It’s essential that you show real commitment to Suffolk and the surrounding areas even if you don’t live here.
