Job Summary

Are you passionate about hospitality and making a difference in your community? Arc – one of the UK’s leading arts & mental health charities – is looking for a Cafe Supervisor to lead our vibrant café team at the iconic Hat Works building in Stockport.

Job Description

Arc is one of the UK’s leading arts and mental health charities, based in Stockport and operating across Greater Manchester. We provide creative programmes that support mental health and wellbeing, and our caf is a vital part of our fundraising and volunteer development work.

We are seeking a Cafe Supervisor to lead and inspire our volunteer team, many of whom are gaining experience to help them into employment. This role is ideal for someone with supervisory experience in hospitality who is passionate about community impact, good food, and excellent customer service.

Hours: 16 hours/week (Thurs-Sat)
Salary: £12.61/hour (Real Living Wage)
Contract: 1-year fixed term
Deadline to apply: Midnight, Sunday 7th September

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and training volunteers in a supportive, inclusive environment
  • Ensuring safe and efficient caf operations
  • Developing the cafe offer to meet fundraising targets
  • Collaborating on menu development and stock management
  • Representing Arc’s values and mission to the public

Person specification:

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Experience supervising in a hospitality setting
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • A passion for food, coffee, and community engagement
  • A commitment to equality, inclusion, and sustainability

Food hygiene level 2 and experience in community or arts settings are desirable but not essential.
