Job Description
This dual-role position covers both daily bookkeeping responsibilities and the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) function. Hybrid working between the gallery and home. The successful candidate will ensure that financial records across multiple entities are meticulously maintained, while also supporting the business in adhering to UK AML regulations relevant to the art market. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a detail-focused environment, has strong analytical skills, and is eager to build specialised knowledge within the art world.
Anti-Money Laundering (AML)
– Conduct AML checks and due diligence for all relevant clients, including transaction monitoring, document capture, client risk assessments notes, and maintaining accurate compliance records all on Arcarta KYC platform.
– Ensure staff across the gallery complete the correct training and follow R+V’s advisory and due-diligence procedures.
– If a SAR is required, provide support to the AML Officer in fulfilling all related obligations and act as a point of contact for any compliance-related queries
Bookkeeping & Financial Administration
– Maintain complete and accurate financial records using Sage 50 across multiple companies, including nominal ledger, purchase ledger, sales ledger, and bank reconciliations.
– Support in reviewing and monitor debtors and creditors regularly, preparing detailed reports to support cash-flow management in multiple currencies.
– Maintain detailed stock and inventory records in Excel, ensuring that all data reconciles accurately with Sage.
– Prepare reports to support the recharge of intercompany expenses and assist in managing transactions across related entities.
– Work closely with the main accountant on month-end and year-end processes, audits, and general accounting tasks.
Job Requirements
Skills & Experience Required
– Strong working knowledge of Sage 50, including multi-currency transactions.
– High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data analysis, reconciliation, and audit-ready record-keeping.
– Excellent attention to detail with the ability to investigate discrepancies and handle unusual situations with sound judgement.
– A proactive mindset and enthusiasm for understanding the nuances of the art market and its specific financial/operational requirements.
– Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues across the business.
– Prior AML knowledge or experience within a regulated industry is highly desirable but not a requirement.
