About the Role
As Automation Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the Deputy Head of Automation and Head of Automation with the operation, and maintenance of all automated elements, particularly those relating to special effects (SFX) and stage illusions.
You will ensure the smooth running of live performances, collaborating closely with other technical departments, creatives, and stage management to execute complex sequences consistently and safely.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the safe running, operation and maintenance of all automated and mechanical elements of a technically complicated show, with a particular focus on SFX and illusions. In addition to wire-based effects, support will include collaboration with the lighting department in regard to fire, smoke, haze etc.
- Operate multiple automation plots
- Assist on all SFX elements including the safety, reliability and quality
- Assist the Deputy Head of Automation and the Head of Automation when required
Job Requirements
Skills & Experience
- Proven and extensive track record of taking a lead role in the automation department of a technically complex show
- Extensive experience of SFX and illusions
