Job Summary
Job Description
Growing Inclusive Dance in Burton is an Arts Council England funded project, led by That! Dance CIC, which aims to support artists working in the area, give new opportunities for participants and understand what local audiences want from dance.
As part of our activity, we want to better understand how people in Burton-upon-Trent and East Staffordshire engage with dance, both as audiences and participants, and what might stop them from taking part. We want to hear directly from local communities about their experiences, interests and needs, and use this to shape future dance activity in the area.
The Audience Development Lead will play a key role in this work, leading on community conversations and helping us build a clearer picture of local audiences. You will gather insights from a wide range of people and help us turn this into a simple, practical approach to developing audiences for dance in Burton.
We know the days are limited for this role so we want to shape the scope with the successful person. We imagine that the role could include:
-Speaking with members of the public in a range of settings such as public spaces, events and partner activity.
-Finding out how people currently engage, or do not engage, with dance activity – this may also include researching what information exists already from other projects
-Exploring what might stop people from attending or taking part in dance, and what would encourage them to get involved.
-Gathering feedback in ways that feel accessible and welcoming.
-Sharing what you learn with the project team and partners.
-Helping us bring this together into a simple, clear and useful audience development approach for future work.
You will work alongside our new Marketing Assistant Role to develop this work.
