About this Role
The Exhibitions Department organises the RA’s world-renowned exhibition programme. The programme spans global artistic practices from antiquity to the present day and is organised in collaboration with leading institutions internationally.
We now have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Curator to join our friendly and dedicated Curatorial Team on a Fixed Term Contract.
The role involves working on the exhibition programme of the Royal Academy, covering a wide range of responsibilities and activities. These include all aspects of exhibition planning, development and delivery, working closely with colleagues from across the organisation as well as alongside external partners.
About You
We’re looking for a diligent, organised and self-motivated individual. You will be educated to at least postgraduate level in Art History or equivalent and/or have comparable curatorial experience. A passion for history of art is key as is a willingness to take on a wide range of tasks and work as part of a team. You will have great research and communication skills (both written and spoken) together with meticulous attention to detail, excellent interpersonal skills and be able to build networks both internally and externally. Experience of working on temporary exhibitions or with museum/gallery collections is preferable, likewise demonstrable experience of documentation, cataloguing and/or research.
This role will require you to be adaptable and willing to take on a range of tasks, as well as occasional out of hours working, for example, to supervise the installations of temporary exhibitions.
