Hadrian’s Wall Art Trail
This autumn, we invite artists from across the North East and Cumbria to submit work for the inaugural Hadrian’s Wall Art Trail. The trail will weave through several locations along Hadrian’s Wall crossing Northumberland and Cumbria and between Haltwhistle and Lanercost, bringing together diverse perspectives on folklore, history, and myth.

The dates of the Art Trail are:
Week 1: Friday 5 – Sunday 7 September 2025
Week 2: Friday 12 – Sunday 14 September 2025
Week 3: Friday 19 – Sunday 21 September 2025

Theme: FOLK
We encourage broad and imaginative interpretations of the theme FOLK. This might include but not limited to:

– People
– Local folk traditions and stories from West Northumberland and East Cumbria
– Roman mythology and legends linked to Hadrian’s Wall
– Border Reivers
– Folkloric creatures and mystical beings
– Botanical folklore and the mythology of native trees and wildflowers
– Landscapes

About The Organisations

The organisations working together on the Art Trail are Green Croft Arts Ltd, Field Shelter CIC and Echo Events CIC. We all live and work on the line of Hadrian’s Wall.

Green Croft Arts

Green Croft Arts is led by dance artist and creative producer Amanda Drago, and sound artist and musician Kit Haigh. Together, we create work that fosters deeper connections between people, the landscape, and the region’s heritage.

Field Shelter CIC

Field Shelter is an artist-led creative studio and project space located near Haltwhistle, Northumberland, on Hadrian’s Wall. Field Shelter supports experimental, rural-based contemporary art practices, exploring alternative methods of making, researching, and presenting work within a wild and natural landscape.

Echo Events CIC

Echo Events Lanercost CIC is a Community Interest Company (CIC) based in Lanercost, Cumbria, that organises and supports community events. They showcase arts, music, and spoken word into their events.
