Fee: £150 per workshop – approximate duration 2 hours
Location: Swaffham, Norfolk – venues will be confirmed in the due course
SDNA is looking for Swaffham and Norfolk based 2D visual artists (drawing, painting, collage) and storytellers/story gatherers to join the creative team for Swaffham Revealed, an imaginative new community led digital art and light project.
Swaffham Revealed will explore the town’s history, architecture, folklore and residents’ memories, culminating in a one day public art event planned for Saturday 20 February 2027, the final event of Swaffham – A Historic Market Town.
Through a programme of creative workshops, local residents will be invited to explore what Swaffham means to them and to create drawings, paintings, collages, stories and poems inspired by the town.
Participants’ work will be digitised, animated and incorporated into projection mapped artworks and audio visual installations presented across Swaffham’s historic town centre. Proposed locations include the Assembly Rooms, St Peter and St Paul Church, the Butter Cross and the Market Place.
Themes may include Swaffham’s historic buildings and landmarks, old photographs, maps and symbols, personal memories, local characters and folklore.
We Are Looking For:
2D Visual Artists
With a background in drawing, painting, collage or illustration. Experience in working with community groups using visual art to explore heritage, place, memory or storytelling would be particularly valuable.
Storytellers / Storygatherers
Who can help recording participants’ personal memories, local stories, imagined histories, poems and short narrative fragments.

– An interest in heritage, folklore, architecture, memory, storytelling and place.
– Good communication and facilitation skills.
– A collaborative, flexible and supportive approach.
– Availability to deliver workshops in Swaffham between September and November 2026.
