Job Description
We’re looking for two access testers to take part in a paid user experience session of Nullspace Motel, a new immersive mixed-reality live art performance by artist https://www.symoneperformingartist.com – Symone.
We’re seeking:
- 1 Captions User (someone who is d/Deaf or hard of hearing and uses captions/subtitles regularly for access)
- 1 Wheelchair User (someone with lived experience navigating public/arts spaces in a manual or powered wheelchair)
Fee:
- £30 per hour
- 2-hour commitment total per person
- £60 fee per tester
About the Show:
Nullspace Motel is a surreal, mixed-reality performance blending:
- Pole dance, contemporary movement, and physical theatre
- Video game play, audience interaction, and non-linear storytelling
- A dreamlike world shaped by 90s nostalgia and glitch aesthetics
Created by Symon – an award-winning circus artist, cabaret performer, and video game designer – this immersive piece explores memory, identity, and digital consciousness through interactive narrative and sensorial design.

Job Responsibilities
About the Role:
You’ll attend a work-in-progress showing of Nullspace Motel at the https://www.attenboroughcentre.com – Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (ACCA) in Brighton on Friday 8th August. The experience lasts around 1 hour, followed by a short, informal feedback session to help us improve access across the full production.
You will:
- Participate in the experience as an audience member
- Share your honest reflections on your access needs, challenges, and suggestions
- Help us make the work more inclusive and accessible for future audiences
