Job Description

AkomaAsa Arts Academy is seeking a dynamic and organised Administrator to support our vibrant arts education programmes for children and young people. This freelance role is central to the smooth running of our Academy, ensuring that communication, coordination, and day-to-day operations reflect our commitment to cultural authenticity, inclusion, and excellence.

Working closely with managers, teachers, parents, and students, the Administrator will manage administrative systems, coordinate teaching schedules, and support the delivery of performances, projects, and events. You’ll be responsible for maintaining email accounts, drafting newsletters and correspondence, and organising internal and external meetings. You’ll also assist with registers, timetables, and database management, while helping to track payments, issue invoices, and liaise with our accountant to ensure financial accuracy.

A key part of the role involves engaging with children, young people, and their families, fostering strong relationships and ensuring clear, timely communication. You’ll also manage our social media presence across platforms including Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, and TikTok-sharing updates that reflect the energy and impact of our work.

We’re looking for someone with at least one year of administrative experience, excellent communication skills, and a passion for working with young people. You should be confident using MS Office, social media tools, and ideally QuickBooks. Experience in arts education, safeguarding, and platforms like MailChimp is desirable.

This is a freelance, part-time role includes Saturdays with flexible hours. You’ll be joining a team working to empower the next generation through culturally grounded arts education.

Job Requirements

Minimum one year of administrative experience with strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proven ability to work with children and young people in inclusive settings. Confident using MS Office and social media platforms. Able to multitask, meet deadlines, and work independently or as part of a team. Understanding of safeguarding, equality, and anti-racism policies. Flexible, professional, and proactive in community engagement. Desirable: experience in arts education, MailChimp, Adobe Reader, and creating evaluation tools. Must be eligible to work in the UK and able to work evenings/weekends as needed. Freelance post, responsible for own tax/NI. Commitment to confidentiality and GDPR compliance essential.
