Events Manager

Wentworth Woodhouse Preservation Trust

Job Summary

We’re looking for an experienced Events Manager to lead a varied programme of events across the House and grounds.

Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Events Manager who loves the buzz of bringing events to life and wants a role with plenty of variety.
This isn’t a role where you’ll be sitting behind a desk simply planning events. You’ll be involved from the initial idea through to delivery, looking at the commercial side, managing the detail and being there on the day to make sure everything comes together.
The events programme is hugely varied and includes cultural and fundraising events, private hire, commercial events, filming and large-scale events across the House and grounds.
You’ll be responsible for:
Planning and delivering a varied annual events programme
Managing event budgets, P&Ls, income and expenditure
Looking for new ideas and opportunities to grow audiences and income
Coordinating suppliers, contractors and external event partners
Working closely with Fundraising, Marketing, Visitor Experience and Operations
Managing casual teams and volunteers during events
Line managing and supporting the Event Officer
Making sure events are safe, well organised and deliver a great visitor experience

Job Requirements

You’ll already have solid events experience and be comfortable taking responsibility for both the planning and operational delivery.
You’ll have experience of managing budgets and P&Ls and ideally have delivered everything from smaller events through to large-scale events with thousands of visitors.
You don’t necessarily need to come from a heritage background. We’re interested in people from events, venues, visitor attractions, culture, hospitality, charities or other environments where delivering a great experience really matters.
You’ll need to be organised, commercially aware, good with people and able to stay calm when the inevitable last-minute change happens.
Knowledge of event safety and Martyn’s Law would be an advantage.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to put their own stamp on an events programme and work in a genuinely unique setting.
Due to the nature of the role, there will be some evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working, with time off in lieu.
