We are looking for an experienced Wardrobe / Wigs, Hair & Make-Up Swing to join the CATS UK Tour.
Working across both the Wardrobe and Wigs, Hair & Make-Up (WHAM) departments, the role will provide performance cover and additional support, helping to ensure both departments are fully self-covering throughout the tour.
The successful candidate should have experience across both wardrobe and wigs/hair/make-up and be confident moving between departments within a busy touring production.
Key responsibilities will include:
Learning agreed Wardrobe and WHAM show plots and providing performance cover as required.
Costume maintenance, repairs, dressing, quick changes and show preparation.
Wig preparation, setting, maintenance and repairs.
Assisting with costume and wig fittings, alterations and preparation for new or replacement company members.
Supporting performers with the production’s hair and make-up requirements.
Assisting with departmental consumables, stock, presets and backstage work areas.
Supporting the Heads of Wardrobe and Wigs, Hair & Make-Up with the general day-to-day running of both departments.
Assisting with get-ins, get-outs and venue moves as required.
This role would suit a flexible, organised and proactive individual with strong practical skills across both departments and experience working within a fast-paced theatrical environment.
Job Requirements
Previous professional experience working in both Wardrobe and Wigs, Hair & Make-Up, ideally within theatre or live performance.
Confident undertaking costume dressing, quick changes, repairs, alterations and general costume maintenance.
Experience with wig preparation, setting, dressing, maintenance and basic repairs.
Comfortable supporting performers with hair and make-up requirements for performances.
Able to learn and confidently cover multiple Wardrobe and WHAM show plots.
Experience working in a fast-paced backstage environment, with the ability to remain calm and organised during performances.
Strong sewing and practical costume maintenance skills.
Excellent attention to detail and a high standard of presentation.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across two departments.
Flexible, adaptable and comfortable moving between Wardrobe and WHAM duties depending on the needs of the production.
Previous touring experience is desirable
