Job Summary

We’re looking for a People & Culture Manager to lead our people function and help shape an inclusive, supportive and high-performing workplace during an exciting period of organisational change.

Job Description

People Strategy, Culture and Change
Work closely with the Director & executive team to build an inclusive and inspirational workplace culture
Regularly review staff benefits and ensure they are in line with good practice.
Working with the Director, manage and build the relationship with the Staff Forum
Contribute to the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion taskforce to ensure EDI is embedded in our processes, policies and procedures. HR Operations, Compliance & Risk
Ensure the efficient management and delivery of all HR processes & administration including contractual matters, HR systems & management of files and records.
Lead the ongoing development of HR policies and processes, including the staff handbook, recruitment, staff onboarding, probation, annual appraisals, training and professional development.
Oversee the organisation’s approach to GDPR and data protection with respect to HR specific processes, overseeing HR systems and records, ensuring data integrity and security.

Recruitment, Training & Development
Lead and manage staff recruitment, ensuring fair and transparent processes.
Provide advice and guidance to managers throughout the entire recruitment process, from production of job descriptions and person specifications through to appointment and onboarding.
Identify individual and organisational training and personal development needs.

Employee Relations & Performance
Deliver specialist Employee Relations support on complex workforce challenges, enabling managers to manage performance, attendance, wellbeing, workplace concerns & organisational change
Act as the organisation’s expert in managing conflicts at work, including grievance & disciplinary matters, seeking external legal advice where appropriate.
Lead on managing & facilitating performance management processes including probation, annual appraisals, ensuring best practice approach to line management.

Job Requirements

Experience working as a People & Culture Manager or in a comparable role, ideally within a cultural, charitable or non-profit organisation. CIPD qualification Level 5 or qualified by experience. Strong, up-to-date knowledge of UK employment law and current HR best practice. Experience leading or supporting organisational change and cultural development. Confidence providing clear, practical advice on complex employee relations matters, including grievance, disciplinary, performance and capability processes. Experience developing, reviewing and maintaining HR policies, procedures and staff handbooks to ensure legal compliance and best practice. Proven ability to manage and deliver end-to-end recruitment processes, including advising on job descriptions, person specifications, fair selection processes and onboarding.
