Pimlico Musical Foundation

Job Summary

This is an expanded role with the Pimlico Musical Foundation, leading and delivering the In-School Programme the core of our work with children in this highly diverse and vibrant part of London.

Job Description

About us
We are the Pimlico Musical Foundation (PMF), a charity founded in 2015 that provides free, high-quality music education to local children in Pimlico and Westminster. Many of the young people we work with face significant challenges, and our work supports their musical development while strengthening the wider community.

We deliver singing programmes across six partner primary schools and run choirs for children and adults, performing locally and at venues including Westminster Cathedral, Oxford University, Opera Holland Park and the Barbican.

In-Schools programmes
Our In-Schools Programme delivers high-quality, tailored music sessions across partner schools in Pimlico and Westminster. Using singing as our core musical language, we work in a range of formats designed to build musical understanding, confidence and enjoyment in young people.

We currently work with St Vincent de Paul Catholic Primary, St Gabriel’s Primary, Millbank Primary Academy, Burdett Coutts Primary, Pimlico Primary and St Paul’s Eaton Square to enhance the overall musical offering provided in these schools.

At the heart of our approach is the belief that musicianship should be taught in parallel with practical singing skills. PMF teachers work collaboratively with schools to enhance the existing curriculum, not to replace the National Curriculum or substitute for existing provision.

About the role
This is a fixed-term role running from September to December 2026 which will be advertised as a permanent position for a January 2027 start. It combines programme leadership with hands-on teaching, giving the right candidate both strategic ownership and meaningful daily contact with children and schools. Made possible through generous funding from St Giles and St George, the role will strengthen and extend our curricular approach, particularly at KS1, while taking overall responsibility for the programme’s development and delivery across all partner schools.
