Job Description
To work with a school or community group to produce a series of lanterns, in response to the theme: Maritime. The lanterns will be a mix of one large centre piece and smaller lanterns designed and produced in collaboration with the school / community group.
The project will include artist workshops in schools / community venue(s) and a finale procession for the Christmas Lights switch-on on Saturday 14 November 2026 from 16:00 – 17:30 (approx.).
The artist will:
– Attend an artist planning meeting to discuss parade theme, school / community group allocations and schedules.
– Produce one large piece and accompanying smaller lanterns.
– Work with Art Lead teacher at their matched primary school / community lead at a group, to arrange workshops in line with their availability.
– Liaise with the artist cohort to ensure artistic consistency.
– Order materials within budget.
– Hold planning sessions and workshops in schools.
– Provide DBS certificates and insurance details to Gloucester City Council.
– Produce the processional works by Saturday 14 November ready for the parade and ensure that all lanterns are dry upon in time for the parade.
– Be present and take part in the procession alongside their matched school / group.
The fee is £1,925 for this role, plus travel and materials.
