SPUD
Job Summary
Job Description
SPUD is a charity focused on arts, architecture, and education committed to creating experiences that foster confidence, support career development and strengthen communities.
SPUD’s wonderful gallery space and studios are home to a thriving creative community and exhibition programme.
We are looking for people who are passionate about creativity connecting communities, and will bring their skills, knowledge and expertise, working effectively as a board member, to contribute to shaping the strategy for SPUD, bringing critical thinking, a curious mind, exercising good independent judgement and governance.
We recognise that the most effective boards are ones which benefit from the lived experience of individuals from a diverse range of backgrounds, experience and skills. We are therefore committed to maintaining a diverse Board and we welcome applicants from all sections of the community – prior trustee experience is not essential.
To enhance the existing skill set of the board, the following skills will be helpful: finance, creative, data / digital marketing, fundraising and sponsorship
How to apply: please see the trustee recruitment pack for more information and details on how to apply. Should you have any immediate questions, please email [email protected]
Closing date: Friday 3pm 12th June
We will assess applications and invite potential candidates for an interview in w/c 29th June 2026. This will be with members of the Trustee Board and SPUD Director (in person / online). We will also try to provide the opportunity for you to meet with the staff and be shown round the SPUD campus.
Job Requirements
Finance Lead role:
As a key member of the Board, you will help ensure the organisation remains financially resilient, well-governed and ambitious in delivering its charitable mission. Your financial
insight will support confident decision-making and enable SPUD to thrive and grow. This is a strategic governance role rather than a day-to-day operational position. Financial
administration is managed by the Director and Operations Manager, with support from an independent accountancy firm. Your contribution will focus on oversight, guidance and
leadership at Board level.
The Trustees meet five times a year currently at 5.30pm for 2 hours. In between there may be two to three informal meetings to focus on particular topics or issues; working groups
may be formed for particular tasks. Meetings are in person or online.
