Freshwater Theatre Company

Job Summary

Freshwater Theatre Company is seeking experienced and passionate drama workshop leaders with access to a car based in and around Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Job Description

Freshwater has been offering primary and nursery schools high quality, affordable and engaging drama opportunities to support the curriculum since 1996.

We are looking to recruit versatile practitioners with considerable experience of single-handedly organising and leading large groups of school children, aged from 3 to 11, to facilitate workshop sessions involving role-play, storytelling, drama games and music, based on the curriculum.

Typical working hours during term time are between 8 hours and 12 hours per week, although this can increase up to 16+ hours per week once facilitators are established.

Payment also differs depending on group size of session delivered and increases year on year up to 10 years of service.

All applicants should have an Enhanced DBS check or be prepared to undergo and pay for a DBS check before they can commence work. All applicants must be able to drive and have access to a car.

Application deadline is Monday 8th June 2026 at 8am

Freshwater creates and promotes a culture of belonging within the organisation and wider Theatre/Drama-in-Education community. Differences are respected and valued; dignity, equality, inclusion and diversity are promoted; and everyone is encouraged and supported.

We want our company to better reflect the diverse cultures, ethnicities, languages and experiences of the children taking part in our workshops. We are particularly interested in applicants from groups currently underrepresented in our workforce. This includes facilitators who identify as part of the global majority.
