Job Summary

The BFC is looking for a skilled, resourceful freelance ASM/Props person to source, adapt and make a range of props for our new project, working closely with our designer and director.

Job Description

We are working on a new sensory immersive adventure, and we’re looking for a skilled, resourceful freelance Props Maker/ASM to source, adapt and make a range of props and costume pieces for the production, working closely with our designer. We envisage that a fair amount of the work involves adapting and customising existing items rather than making from scratch, so a creative and inventive approach is essential.

Fee: £600 a week for approximately for around two weeks work, around 8 hours a day Monday-Friday, as an example, though exact working days are flexible and to be confirmed at consultation. A materials budget will be agreed separately.

We are based in Yorkshire and would ideally like someone local to Yorkshire or Derbyshire, though we’re happy to consider applications from further afield.

Job Requirements

-Experience in props making, costume or set dressing for theatre
-Resourceful and inventive; able to find creative solutions on a budget
-Able to respond well to a design brief and work independently
-Strong organisational skills and ability to meet a firm deadline
-Experience in children’s or SEND theatre is a plus but not essential
-Based in Yorkshire or Derbyshire preferred
