CHAIR OF TRUSTEES

The Chair of The Production Exchange (TPE) leads the Board in governing the charity effectively and in line with its vision and mission. This is a non-executive role, requiring inclusive leadership, strong collaboration with the Staff Team, and the ability to offer both support and constructive challenge. The Chair also acts as an ambassador and public representative for TPE.
Key responsibilities include providing strategic leadership, helping the charity achieve its mission, and ensuring the Board fulfils its governance duties. The Chair works closely with the Staff Team, plans and chairs Board meetings and the AGM, and helps strengthen relationships with TPE’s supporters, clients and freelance contractors. The role also includes acting as a spokesperson and figurehead for the organisation.
As a trustee, the Chair shares responsibility for supporting TPE’s purpose, vision and activities, approving strategy and policy, and monitoring implementation. Trustees oversee financial plans, budgets and statements, ensure effective administration, and make sure risks are properly identified and managed. They are expected to support and challenge staff appropriately, stay informed about changes in TPE’s operating environment, and contribute to regular reviews of governance.
All trustees must attend Board meetings well prepared, exercise independent judgement, and always act legally, in good faith, and in the best interests of the charity. They are also expected to help promote TPE’s aims and reputation by contributing their skills, knowledge and networks.
