Job Summary
Job Description
You will work daytime, evening and weekends in this onsite position, which requires a hands-on person, willing to lead and work alongside our team of staff and volunteers to run our bar and cinema and support with our technical department. The position would suit an experienced bar manager, or skilled technician (with an interest to develop skills in both areas.) We are particularly interested in receiving applications from candidates with experience in technical theatre such as lighting and/or sound or in theatre bar or cinema management.
Your overall objective is, by leading and motivating a team of paid staff and volunteers , to ensure an attractive, well-run venue providing food and beverages to attract and retain customers to the Old Court, growing sales and profitability and increasing attendance at events.
The job holder should have a passion for delivering outstanding hospitality, and be an inspiring leader, setting and maintaining exacting standards, and have good financial and commercial awareness.
In addition, you will manage the cinema and technical offer of our Arts Space, supported by a bank of freelance staff to be booked according to your skill level, time and interest. Training will be offered for some aspects of the job where required.
This is an exciting position, in an area of natural beauty with an established audience, and a broad demographic of stakeholders, which offers an excellent opportunity for a personable and organised individual.
Job Requirements
We are looking for someone to inspire our dedicated staff, volunteers and enthusiastic stakeholders with your excellent customer service and organisational skills.
You will need to be able to work flexible and unsociable hours, occasionally at short notice and to have a keen interest in film, theatre, performing arts and art.
You will have excellent communication skills and the ability to think ahead to ensure cost effective stock control and staffing, which is balanced with good customer service.
The skills to set up and operate technical equipment or the desire to learn, would be a great advantage.
