Job Summary

Our Commerce and Visitor Experience department is looking for a new Publishing Project Editor to join the team.

Job Description

Working within the Commerce and Visitor Experience team and reporting to the Publishing Manager, the Publishing Project Editor is responsible for the project management of a range of publishing projects (including collections titles, guidebooks, children’s titles, exhibition catalogues and digital products) and takes an active role in all aspects of the publishing process.

This is a full-time, permanent role in Band 5 – Management and Proficient Specialists. Core hours of work will be 36 per week, 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, with an additional hour to be worked as agreed upon with management.

Job Requirements

The successful candidate will have proven experience working on publishing projects, ideally illustrated books, with experience in copy-editing, proofreading and writing copy. They should have an awareness of intellectual property rights and sound copyright knowledge. The role holder will be a clear and assertive communicator with good commercial awareness. They will demonstrate attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varied and demanding workload. Knowledge and experience of using Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, databases, archives or DAMS are also essential to this role.
