Job Description

Contract Type: 14-week paid temporary contract
Working Hours: 8-9hrs per day
Working Days: will vary Monday – Sunday (minimum 50 working days over 14 weeks, minimum 400hrs over the contract period)
Benefits: Expenses covered (accommodation when location not local to your residential address, local travel (public transport or mileage) and food allowance
Salary: Real Living Wage £13.45p/hr
Start + End: 8 June – 13 September (including 1 week training)

We are looking for Learning Facilitators in the South West of England with a passion for arts engagement and cultural outreach to deliver our Learning Programme for the Summer 2026 tour of the Art Explora Mobile Museum, 15 June – 13 September 2026.

The Mobile Museum is a unique truck touring an exhibition from a national collection, on a mission to make great art accessible to everyone, everywhere – across towns, villages and remote locations. The Mobile Museum offers a programme of exhibition visits and educational, participatory art workshops in partnership with schools and community groups, and a public programme for families and general visitors.

The Learning Facilitators will be ambassadors for Art Explora and the collection as they travel with the Mobile Museum and deliver the learning programme in the form of a visit to the exhibition inside the Mobile Museum (45min) and a creative workshop (45 min). They will lead up to four scheduled groups per day of school children and community groups. Training and a learning toolkit will be provided, but we are open to new ideas and creative thinking.

This is a unique opportunity to be involved in a project at the crossroads of arts and education, and deeply embedded within local communities. You will also share our belief in increasing access to arts and culture, and in the value of creating opportunities for people, of all ages, to engage and participate in the arts. Successful candidates will have proven skills and experience outlined below.

Job Requirements

– Enthusiastic about supporting young people and communities to engage with creativity
– Confident communication skills with a friendly, professional approach
– Respectful and safety conscious, able to follow policies, procedures and instructions including safeguarding, access and equal opportunity policies and procedures
– Ability to treat all stakeholders (partners, visitors, team members) with respect and dignity at all times, adopting a culturally sensitive approach, which considers the needs of the whole person
– Motivated and reliable, ability to work flexibly including evenings and weekends and support all project dates
– Organisational skills and ability to maintain a tidy workplace
– Degree level qualification or equivalent experience in fine art, art history or related arts subject
– Located in the South-West: able to work in Plymouth without overnight accommodation needs
