Job Summary

FESTIVAL DIRECTOR, BLOOMSBURY FESTIVAL (£60,000 FTE). Based Central London (Bloomsbury). Initial Contract Fee: £21,000 (part-time) June–December 2026. We are recruiting a Festival Director with a long term view to lead the festival and organisation.

Job Description

Bloomsbury Festival is seeking a new Festival Director to overlap with the current Director to deliver the 2026 festival, and to plan, develop and deliver future festivals, with a view to an ongoing role leading the festival.

This is a creative leadership role that combines:
Artistic vision and management
Business and charity management
Fundraising and partnerships

Time commitment: Part-time (minimum 3 days per week) and full-time in the lead up and during the October 2026 festival.

2026 Festival runs 1-31 October 2026 (Weds-Sun)

You will:
Lead operational delivery of the 2026 festival alongside the current Festival Director
Fundraise for future festivals and events
Manage the charity and company operations
Build partnerships and sponsorship relationships
Oversee budgets, reporting and governance
Support artists, partners and communities

You will bring:
Senior festival or cultural leadership experience
Strong fundraising and partnership track record
Business, budget and organisational management skills
Ability to balance creativity with commercial reality

Senior Multi-Arts Creative Producer or Festival Director
CEO, Director or senior manager of a charity or cultural organisation
Proven track record of fundraising and partnership development
