Job Summary

Ames Yavuz London is seeking a highly organised, proactive and personable Gallery Assistant to support the daily operations of the gallery and assist the Gallery Director.

Job Description

This role is ideal for someone with a strong interest in contemporary art who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys working closely with artists, collectors, and colleagues across the gallery. The Gallery Assistant will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of the gallery while supporting exhibitions, events and sales activity.

Key Responsibilities:

Front of House & Visitor Experience
– Welcome visitors and provide information about current and upcoming exhibitions
– Act as the first point of contact for general enquiries in person, by phone, and via email
– Maintain a professional and welcoming gallery environment

Sales & Exhibition Support
– Prepare and update artwork price lists and exhibition documentation
– Assist the Director with collector enquiries and follow-ups
– Support preparations for exhibitions, art fairs, and private viewings
– Maintain and update client and artwork records in the gallery database
– Prepare and edit lists of contacts for offers and invitations

Operations & Administration
– Assist with the coordination of artwork shipments, deliveries, and collections
– Manage incoming and outgoing mail and packages
– Maintain office, gallery, and kitchen supply inventories
– Help coordinate gallery openings, events, and special projects

General Gallery Support
– Open and close the gallery as required
– Provide administrative support across the gallery team
– Assist with research and preparation of materials for sales presentations

Job Requirements

Candidate Profile

– Previous experience at a gallery, museum, or arts organisation is essential
– A BA or higher qualification in a relevant subject
– Strong organisational and administrative skills with excellent attention to detail
– Confident and personable with strong written and verbal communication skills
– Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment
– Genuine interest in contemporary art and the gallery sector
– Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems (Artlogic experience preferred)
