Job Description

What this role is:

A coordination and support role helping to sustain momentum across a range of professional activity, including new commissions, collaborations, performances, recordings, and community-based music initiatives.

You will work in close partnership with the artist, supporting the delivery of commissions and engagements, as well as helping to develop independent, artist-led ventures.

What this role is not:

A marketing/PR position, artistic director role, or high-pressure sales role.

Hours:

Approximately 6 hours per week (around 24 hours per month).

There is some flexibility in how these hours are worked. Hours may increase or decrease by mutual agreement in response to project workload, deadlines, and funding. There is also scope for increased involvement and responsibility as projects grow and develop.

About the artist:

Nathan Williamson is a composer and pianist who “quietly, meticulously, does his own thing… an imaginer of projects steering wide of the obvious…” (Ates Orga). He has composed for and performed with leading artists, ensembles and opera companies in the UK and internationally. As a pianist he is particularly associated with 20th-century and contemporary repertoire, and has recorded extensively for SOMM and Lyrita. He is a member of the new music ensemble Piano Circus.

Nathan is also deeply rooted in music-making in and around his hometown of Southwold on the Suffolk coast, where he founded the Southwold Music Trust to place music at the centre of the local community.

Job Requirements

The ideal candidate will:

– be interested in live music and collaborative cultural projects
– enjoy helping projects move from planning to fruition
– be organised and able to manage multiple strands of activity
– be able to draft clear, professional communications
– be able to adapt calmly as project plans evolve
– be comfortable taking ownership of tasks within an agreed framework, seeing them through to completion
