Lambeth Wind Orchestra Conductor

We are a lively, friendly and inclusive community concert band with approximately 40 members, rehearsing on Thursday evenings 7.30-9.30pm in Herne Hill. Established in 2008, we are distinguished by the diversity of our repertoire and our sense of the band as a community. The minimum standard required of players is Grade 6, though most members are at a considerably higher level and we do like to be stretched! Our repertoire covers contemporary wind band music, pop, musical theatre, and arrangements of classical works. Recent programmes have focused on highlighting contemporary wind band music, music themed around animals, dance music and pieces from around the world. We present at least two formal concerts each year, in the Spring and Autumn, but our busiest time is over the summer, since we are particularly renowned for our lively and engaging outdoor performances. We also present an informal Christmas concert and busk for charity at least once a year. Fundraising and outreach into the community are important to us.
