Purpose of Job
The Assistant Stage Manager will support the Company Manager and the department in carrying out maintenance calls, rehearsals, and show plots, including calling the show.
Duties and Responsibilities
1.To perform the Assistant Stage Manager plots as directed by the Company Manager, including the supervision of show crew and/or deps as required.
2.To call the show as a book cover when required by the Company Manager.
3.Work collaboratively with all other departments, including the theatre’s technical team, to ensure the smooth running of the show.
4.Recognise where maintenance work needs to be carried out/replacements are required and bring this to the attention of the Company Manager so this may be scheduled to ensure no show delays.
5.To keep show cue sheets and paperwork up to date.
6.Attend rehearsals; as well as technical, dress, and understudy rehearsals as required.
7.Ensure that work materials and all stage management equipment and areas are kept in a tidy and secured manner.
8.Ensure that security, safety, and good housekeeping procedures for the department are properly carried out.
9.Comply with the Manager’s Health and Safety and other policies at all times.
10.Maintaining and sourcing props, carrying out repairs or emergencies as required for the production.
11.Assisting with administrative tasks as needed, with the Company Manager.
12.Any other duties as may be reasonably required in the course of your duties or as instructed by the Company Manager from time to time.
Job Requirements
Person Specification
1.Experience of large-scale theatrical productions, the running of busy plots and show calling.
2.The ability to adapt work in accordance with performance requirements.
3.The ability to work as part of a team
4.The ability to maintain a calm and positive attitude in a busy, large-scale theatrical production.
5.Excellent communication and people skills.
6.A proactive approach to work.
Desirable
1.Experience working on a show with automation.
