Overview

The Daphne Oram Trust is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Education Assistant, who will be Bradford or West Yorkshire based to support the Education Lead in delivering an impactful outreach programme as part of the centenary celebration of composer Daphne Oram to include 4 schools workshops ( 2 days total) and input into a digital education pack (3 days total). This role will play a crucial part in engaging students with Oram’s legacy through innovative workshops and educational materials.

Applications from global majority candidates are particularly welcome, to reflect the demographic of the participants.

5 days at £200 p/d (£1000 total). A working day is 7 hours. Other than 4 morning in person workshops (i.e. 4 x 0.5 days), the work may be spread out flexibility and will take place remotely.

Job Requirements

Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Passionate about music, arts, heritage and keen to support children to learn and make.
  • A practitioner, artist or enthusiastic amateur of electronic music
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students and school staff
  • An approachable, confident demeanor with a respectful attitude towards diverse audiences.
  • Awareness of Daphne Oram’s contributions to music and her legacy – you can find out about her online and on YouTube
  • Knowledge of safeguarding procedures in an educational context – or willing to learn
  • Ability to work collaboratively and adapt to the dynamic environment of workshop settings
