Job Description
We are looking for Volunteers who will help ensure that everyone who takes part in activities at the Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration has a positive experience.
A drop-in information session about volunteering with us will be held from 3pm – 5pm on Tuesday 3rd February. As a Volunteer, the tasks and activities you can get involved in include:
Supporting Visitor Welcome, Participation and Events
- Welcoming visitors and providing assistance, including giving directions around the site and supporting access for disabled people.
- Supporting staff who are on duty at the Information and Sales Desk or supervising the Galleries or Library.
- Providing information about the Centre’s displays and the history of the site, promoting upcoming events and signposting other ways visitors can get more actively involved. (Training will be provided).
- Assisting the Centre team and freelance practitioners with preparing materials, setting up and clearing away activities.
Gardens and building
- Carrying out gardening tasks and routine garden maintenance as required by the Centre team.
- Working as a small team to create biodiverse habitats for wildlife.
- Interacting with visitors if you are comfortable doing so, including talking about the plants and wildlife in the gardens, giving directions and encouraging visitors to explore the rest of the Centre.

Job Requirements
To become a volunteer you will need to be:
- Over the age of 16.
- Interested in working with people.
- Friendly, helpful, encouraging and inclusive.
- Enthusiastic to learn about Quentin Blake Centre for Illustration and the heritage of the site, and to share this in a positive and lively way.
- Someone who enjoys working as part of a small, dedicated team.

Job Responsibilities
All volunteers will be expected to:
- Report issues, concerns, accidents and emergencies promptly.
- Record your volunteering hours and pass these on to the Centre team.
- Take part in relevant training.
- Champion an inclusive approach in your interactions and tasks.
