Job Description
Southwark is blessed with more than 130 parks and green spaces. These include larger parks such as Burgess Park, Southwark Park, Peckham Rye Park and Common, and Dulwich Park. Since 2018, the council has granted Event Permits to a limited number of large-scale (8,000+ people) commercial events. More than 150,000 people attended a major event in 2025.
The Events Operations Officer role is at the heart of this programme, supporting major event organisers in their planning, keeping them accountable to their commitments to communities and liaising with residents and other stakeholders to ensure safe and smooth delivery.
The postholder will play a key role in:
- stakeholder and client engagement
- operational planning
- income generation
- performance monitoring
This role will contribute to the continued growth, quality, and long-term sustainability of Southwark’s outdoor events programme, aligning with our vision for a fair, green, and safe borough where everyone can live a good life as part of a strong and connected community.
Job Requirements
Full time, with 36 contracted hours a week (or 4 days a week, open to negotiation)
The postholder will be required to undertake occasional evening and weekend working, as well as on-site monitoring of events, with agreed overtime where appropriate.
