Pottery Tutor – Clervaux Garden School

40 hours per week, 40 weeks per year (term time only)

Fulltime equivalent salary = £29,215 – £34,938

Actual salary for working 40 weeks per year = £25,633 – £30,654

We are seeking to appoint a committed, enthusiastic professional to teach the crafts and skills of pottery making to groups of students of mixed abilities. Applicants must have experience of working with learners with learning difficulties and/or learning disabilities.

You will be working with a small group of students, delivering accredited qualifications. You will need a willingness to work outdoors in all weathers, as well as working with hand-tools and having experience working with other related machinery (in-house training/guidance can be provided).

Successful applicants will be required to undergo a Disclosure and Barring Service Enhanced Level Disclosure as well as a medical check, references, evidence of qualifications, plus verification of the right to work in the UK.

Job Requirements

To undertake this position successfully you will have:

  • Experience of working with clay whilst having the ability to produce high items that the children and
    young people can use
  • A teaching qualification is desirable but not essential. If not held the successful candidate must be
    willing to work towards
  • This post will suit someone who has the significant experience working in pottery and have
    experience of working with children and young people with SEND
  • You must be able to instil enthusiasm and enjoyment into the learning process in such a way that
    can lead to increased self-esteem and enhanced engagement in learning
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
