The National Videogame Museum
Job Summary
Job Description
The National Videogame Museum is recruiting an Exhibit and Events Technician to support all aspects of technical delivery and maintenance for exhibits and events at the National Videogame Museum Sheffield UK.
This is an opportunity to get hands on with and deepen your understanding of dozens of systems and consoles spanning 40 years of videogame history. A knack for troubleshooting computers, or taking things apart might be useful, but your ability to look up problems, follow tutorials to fix them, and record that information for others is essential.
You’ll be present when the Museum is open to the public, so confident communication is a necessity. Communicating with other members of staff to understand technical issues, try simple troubleshooting, and understand instructions is key. As is the ability to plan work, share information and to work both alone and within a team as required for larger productions and events.
Initial onboarding will provide an overview of exhibits and systems,, but a certain amount of self study (during work) is expected. This may include following Raspberry Pi tutorials, learning how to use Linux, practising soldering, or researching issues with equipment.
