Head of Wigs, Hair & Make Up – SYLVIA UK Tour

THE ROLE

The Head of WHAM will be responsible for the Wigs, Hair and Make Up track and maintenance on the show, alongside a Deputy. The engagement will be from 14 September – 15 November 2026.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• To be responsible for Wigs, Hair and Make-Up (WHAM) on the show.

• To assist in setting up the WHAM department during technical rehearsals.

• To ensure that the agreed wigs, hair and make-up designs and requirements are maintained throughout the run of the production.

• To manage and be responsible for the pre-show hair styling and makeup requirements of the company.

• To run the WHAM track during performances.

• Maintaining high standards of presentation for the cast wigs.

• Being responsible for the maintenance of the understudy wigs and their subsequent presentation when they are required.

• To liaise with the Company Manager to coordinate any external haircuts, if required.

• To maintain necessary stock, consumables and equipment throughout and to manage the department’s petty cash float.

• Maintaining the ‘show bible’ including up-to-date character, design notes and images, show running/dressing notes, charts for make-up and special effects etc.

• To work collaboratively as a department with other technical departments, stage management, the acting company, resident creative team members and venues to ensure the efficient flow of information as necessary for the smooth running of the show.

• Being present for rehearsals, technical rehearsals and show calls as required.

• To create and encourage a supportive, inclusive and positive culture for all staff on the production.

• Complying with the Manager’s Health and Safety and other policies at all times and ensuring departmental staff do the same.
